Drexel University's MAD Dragon Records (MDR) and Motion City Soundtrack are pleased to announce the final release of the Making Moves series, with Motion City Soundtrack releasing two brand new tracks of their own, "Severance" and "Major Leagues". Making Moves has featured a series of 7-inch releases by emerging artists, produced and curated by the members of Motion City Soundtrack. The Making Moves project is released jointly on MAD Dragon Records and Motion City Soundtrack's recently launched record label, The Boombox Generation. Motion City Soundtrack will close out the inspiring series by releasing their Making Moves 7-inch on November 6th, 2012. This release will contain two single tracks on 7-inch vinyl, as well as a bonus track released with the digital package. Check out their track "Major Leagues" on Rolling Stone, here: http://bit.ly/SukBpo. In addition, the Making Moves: Special Limited Edition Box Set is now available for pre-order. The box set will include, all six 7" records including releases The Company We Keep, Brick + Mortar, A Great Big Pile of Leaves, Goldrush, The Skies Revolt and the series curator, Motion City Soundtrack. Members of Motion City Soundtrack, Justin Pierre (Vocals/Guitar), Joshua Cain (Guitar/Vocals), Jesse Johnson (Keys), Matt Taylor (Bass/Vocals) and Tony Thaxton (Drums/Vocals), produced all of the Making Moves artists' recordings between November 2011 and January 2012.? The sessions took place at Drexel University's studios in Philadelphia, PA with Drexel's Music Industry Program alumni and undergraduate students, Lenny Skolnick, Dave Petit and Justin Chapman engineering the sessions. ?Students from Drexel's Film & Video program documented the recording process for the documentary "The Making of Making Moves" DVD that is included in the limited edition box set.? The idea for the Making Moves project came together at the annual South By Southwest Music Conference (SXSW) in March 2011. According to Johnson of MCS, "Last year, I was at SXSW with the band I manage, A Great Big Pile of Leaves, and Terry Tompkins [Associate Teaching Professor of the Music Industry Program and Managing Director of the Music Industry Program Entities at Drexel University] attended their showcase. Johnson said, "After a few emails and phone calls, the Making Moves project was hatched; it went from simply doing an A Great Big Pile of Leaves seven inch to Motion City Soundtrack curating the series." Taylor of MCS adds, "I'm hoping that people will be inspired by the collaboration and the many different factions involved with the series.? We came together with a common goal of releasing music that we're excited about. We want those who hear it to share in this excitement with us." Motion City Soundtrack's upcoming release for the Making Moves series, which is supported in part by the Kal & Lucille Rudman Institute for Entertainment Industry Studies at Drexel University, will consist of two new unique tracks from the pop-rock legends themselves, as well as a bonus cover track. Ed Ackerson at Flowers Recording Studio in Minneapolis, MN did additional engineering and mixing.? Kicking off the 7-inch with "Severance", Motion City Soundtrack display their un-denied ability to write a catchy pop hit. The track starts out slow and lilting before unexpectedly shifting into a more furious pace-complete with soaring guitar riffs- which shows off the band's punk roots. This pace is continued in "Major Leagues," thanks to Thaxton's swift drumming and Pierre's careful attention to vocal melodies and intonation. "Major Leagues" attests to Pierre's ability to write lyrics that are not only meaningful but are sonically pleasing as well. The 7-inch closes with the bands unique rendition of Rilo Kiley's "Pictures of Success". Pierre stated, "It was really fun to team up with and throw around ideas with the Drexel University student engineers, videographers, and A&R." Motion City Soundtrack will release their Making Moves 7-inch vinyl and digital download on November 6th, 2012 - pre-order it now at http://bit.ly/SY6Qz1. The limited edition box set will be released on November 20th, 2012 and pre-orders are available now at http://bit.ly/U6Wxj2.
